Peregrini

This early twelfth-century English manuscript illumination [Cambridge, Library of Pembroke College 120, fol. 4v], can show how these monastic representations of the Gospels were enacted, the monks borrowing the clothes of their pilgrim guests for the parts of Christ, Luke and Cleopas.
